Mt. Mariah Women Ministry

(Empowering Women – A God-Given Mission)

“Charm and grace are deceptive, and [superficial] beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord [reverently worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect], she shall be praised.”

Proverbs 31:30 AMP.

The Mt. Mariah Women’s ministry is a meeting place for conversation and encouragement for women who desire to be true women of God. Success in the church will come only when there are more ministries than programs. People don’t need more programs. They need ministries that will meet their needs right where they are. This is especially true for women.

Mt. Mariah Women’s Ministry

FOCUS ON WOMEN GROWTH IN MINISTRY

We recognize that women are not all the same. Those who are called to women's ministry have their work cut out for them. It's not an easy job to minister to such a diverse group of people. But anyone who wants to appeal to women in general must recognize that women come in
many different shapes and must create a ministry that appeal to more than one type. This is the
same for any demographic group in the church, but perhaps most of all for women. Our
lifestyles, circumstances, and preferences are so diverse. Not all topics or discussions have to
appeal to every woman - but if nothing about the ministry appeals to a particular woman, she
will quickly get the message that she is not okay and/or not wanted. All women desire to be
accepted and respected by the people they choose to spend their time with.

We respect women's intellectual abilities. We as Christians seem to buy into the world's lie that
women are purely emotional beings, at the whim of fantasy and hormones, and not smart
enough to go deep. God created us to feel and to think, so our souls hunger, not only for the
presence of God, but also for knowledge of His truth.

We recognize that women are not just wives and mothers. Women aren't required to fill these
roles to see God's purpose for their lives. Most of us are both a wife and a mother, but if we
were neither, God's calling on our lives does not go away. We must acknowledge that women
are unmarried, childless, divorced, single, struggling with infertility, focused on their careers,
and everything in between. All women are important to God, and none of them should have
the impression that God's plans don't include them.

We make it safe to talk about real life. Most women are afraid to talk about certain subjects
because they sense that their thoughts would not be accepted by the general church women
group. Some topics are off the "approved" list at women's ministry gatherings. However, MMM
women's ministry makes it safe to talk honestly and biblically about our experiences with
spiritual doubt, depression, injustice, loneliness, temptation, abuse, regrets, sex, career success,
insecurities, need to achieve, perfectionism, financial worries, sexual harassment, boredom,
anxiety, exhaustion, great books, compulsive eating, addictions, and things that keep us awake
at night. Ministry that encompasses all of these areas will produce powerful life changes. We

believe that no topic should be taboo for Christian women ministries. Most times when a
subject is broached by one woman, the group will find that there are other women
experiencing the same problem or have encountered the same situation. A lot of time the
things we are faced with and become overcomers of, is not only for us but to help someone
else. If God has healed us from a major sickness, then we should be willing to encourage
someone who is going through that same crisis. Letting women know that they are not the first
to have these experiences, they will (undoubtedly) not be the last, and that God is just and
faithful to deliver them is a primary part of building relationships with each other. Once that
deliverance comes, then they are responsible for helping someone else. That is what ministry is
all about; we need each other. We experience favor, but we, also, have all sinned and come
short of the glory of God. Thankfully, we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Because of
those truths, we must keep in mind that but by the grace of God, we would find ourselves in
some places and doing some things that we should not do. BUT GOD!

We affirm real women. Women ministry should be a place for uplifting. Women should not
walk out feeling worse about their walk with Christ than they did when they walked in. Many
women feel torn down and devalued by the church - simply because they are women, or they
are the sort of women God has made them to be. We are truly concerned about those women
who have written off the church, and by association Christ, because of what they have heard
the church telling them about their own worth. Women's ministry programs must make the
everyday women feel like they belong. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God;” Romans 3:23.

We want to challenge women. There is so much for women to do in ministry inside and outside
the church walls. Women must be challenged to step outside of their comfort zone to
experience their true ministerial calling.

With these truths in mind, the Mt. Mariah Women’s Ministry:

SURVEYS the real needs of the women in our church

PLAN meetings, retreats, and Bible studies that women will want to attend

Handle MONEY matters

and in the end, BUILD a dynamic women’s ministry that touches lives for Christ from the ground
up!
Women of God stay on the wall and keep fighting the good fight. “They which builded on the
wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands
wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon. Nehemiah 4:17.
